Free at last, free at last…
Free from others’ control, injustice: unbound
From their games, their stupid rules used
To reduce, reject, exclude.
Free, flown the nest, stretching wings
Made to be stretched; parents’ hopes
Fulfilled in our new world.
Free, ourselves, adrift, horizons empty,
Our new creation reflecting only
Our own voices, choices; void.
Free, at last, from illusion’s eye, to seek
A we, another, unalike. To play a game
Dependent on another’s play,
Free to outlast us, out-date us, let us go,
Fly our nest, make rules its own, so
We can truly say:
Thank God Almighty,
We’re free at last.
